Date: Wed, 21st Jan 2026 10:00 - 16:00

Venue: Huntingdon Town hall, Market Hill, Huntingdon, PE29 3PJ

Marking 150 years since the Abbots Ripton Railway Disaster, this special exhibition at Huntingdon Town Hall explores one of the most significant events in local and national railway history.

Drawing on original research and memorabilia from local rail historian Charles Saunders, the exhibition tells the story of the 1876 disaster, the people whose lives were affected, and how the tragedy led to lasting improvements in railway safety across the country. Visitors will also discover Huntingdon's own connections to the event and why it remains an important part of our shared local history.

The exhibition is suitable for all ages and offers an opportunity to learn more about the past through documents, photographs, and personal stories connected to the disaster.
